Preliminary Information
To restore an entire system, two essential steps are required. First, a USB stick must be created to start the computer (rescue system). This USB stick allows you to start your computer even if it is no longer possible from the hard drive. Subsequently, you can restore the backup of the hard drive.
For the second step, a complete backup of the drives to be restored must be available on an external storage device, such as a USB hard drive. We will show you here how to create the rescue system and a complete backup for the "C" drive on an external USB drive.
1. Rescue System
Start the creation of a rescue system by clicking on the "Rescue System" function.
2. Choose rescue medium
Select the USB stick as the medium here, as we will explain in this example how system recovery works via a USB stick.
3. USB Stick is being prepared / Windows Deployment Kit is being installed
To prepare the USB stick for the rescue system, the installation of the "Windows Assessment Deployment Kit" (ADK) on your computer is required.
Note: Please be aware that the USB stick will be formatted. Therefore, ensure that there are no important data on the stick beforehand.
By clicking "Next," the preparation for creating the rescue system on the USB stick will begin.
3.1 Allow changes
When you see the following prompt, the "Windows Assessment Deployment Kit" will be installed in the next step.
3.2 ADK is being installed
The Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK) is being installed.
3.3 The rescue system has been established
The creation of the recovery system is now complete. Please keep this USB stick safe, as it will allow you to restart your Windows if it becomes impossible to do so from the hard drive.
