Under certain circumstances it can happen that Ashampoo Snap 14 does not behave as expected (e.g. the editor does not start) or error messages (e.g. JavaScript) are displayed. Below we describe possible causes and solutions.
- Ashampoo Snap supports the operating systems Windows 10 (64bit) and Windows 11. The software is not compatible with the operating systems Windows 7, 8 and Windows 10 (32bit).
- Snap requires the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable updates. It is necessary to install both of the following updates on your system:
https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x86.exe
https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe
More information about the updates can be found here:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170 - It can happen that Snap is blocked by security software or the Windows integrated Defender.
- For example, if you protect your personal folders from access by applications, the Ashampoo Snap application will not be allowed to access the pictures or documents folder. The software may not start, you may receive error messages or Defender may issue warnings.
You can disable this protection or allow individual applications. Microsoft describes the procedure here:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/allow-an-app-to-access-controlled-folders-b5b6627a-b008-2ca2-7931-7e51e912b034
Therefore, grant access to the following program:
C:\Program files\Ashampoo\Ashampoo Snap 15\snap15.exe - If you use security software from other vendors, you should also check the settings directly there and possibly allow Snap 15 explicitly. Many manufacturers have options in their security solutions to declare programs as trusted. Ashampoo Snap is located in the following installation directory:
C:\Program files\Ashampoo\Ashampoo Snap 15\
- If you are using Avast AntiVirus or Avast Security, you need to add Snap to the "list of allowed apps". The manufacturer describes the procedure here.
https://support.avast.com/en-us/article/Use-Antivirus-blocked-allowed-apps/ - Kaspersky calls this "Trusted Applications mode":
https://support.kaspersky.com/15175 - Norton is offering following description:
