New and updated keyboard shortcuts in Snap 14
These are the most important Snap 14 shortcuts based on the default settings. You can modify them through he program settings.
Scan screen: Alt + Ctrl + S
Capture rectangular region: Alt + Ctrl + N
Capture fixed-size region: Alt + Ctrl + A
Text recognition (OCR) Alt + Ctrl + P
1. Select tool
First, move the mouse over the magic eye and select "Scan screen" (1).
2. What would you like to capture?
Next, hover your mouse over the window you wish to capture. Snap auto-detects and highlights these elements automatically. If no window is open, Snap highlights the entire screen by default, as indicated by the thin borders around it. Click the highlighted region to confirm it as your selection for the new screenshot.
Click the selection, or the camera icon (1), to capture the affected region as a screenshot and open the result in Snap's built-in editor.
3. The editor
Once the editor is open, you can edit and annotate your screenshot through multiple tools listed in the left toolbar. In this example, I want to create a border around a particular section in the shot. For added clarity, I first click the little arrow to expand the toolbar and display labels next to the individual tools.
The "Shapes" section is located further down below and accessible through scrolling.
The little arrow to the left of the icon indicates that this category includes additional items and is expandable through clicking (1).
4. Draw the border
Next, I select the rectangle tool and drag to create the shape around the desired region and release to add the object to my project. I can then drag the markers to reposition/resize the rectangle or adjust its formatting using the properties pane on the right.
I then click the back button (1) to return to the previous toolbar state.
5. Copy screenshot to system clipboard
The system clipboard makes it easy to use the screenshot with other applications, like an email clients or word processors, on the fly. You can either click the clipboard icon on the left (1) or hit Ctrl + Shift + C to copy your shot, along with your annotations, to the system clipboard.
6. Insert screenshot into MS Word or other word processor
I've picked MS Word to show you how to insert your copied shot into a text document but you can also use other programs, e.g. Ashampoo Office 8's Write. First, I position the cursor in the document as needed. Then, I hit Ctrl + V to paste the screenshot into the Word document.
