If all other attempts at speeding up your slow Windows system have failed, you may try resetting the OS to default settings. This way, all non-Windows Store apps will be deleted from your system and all settings reset to defaults. Your personal documents, photos or music won't be affected. You will have to reinstall your Ashampoo programs afterwards and you can find your license keys for that in your Ashampoo account.
1. Open Windows settings
Click the Windows logo at the bottom left in your task bar (1) to open the start menu. Click the cog wheel icon to open the Windows settings (2).
2. Open Update & Security
Next, click "Update & Security" (1).
3. Select Recovery
Then, select "Recovery" (1).
4. Reset this PC
Next, click "Get started" (1) to initiate the process.
5. Select recovery options
You can then decide whether to keep your personal files (1) or delete them in the process.
6. Affected applications
After that, you'll see a list of applications that will be removed from your PC. This includes all programs not installed through Windows Store. You can reinstall your Ashampoo programs once the process is complete using the license keys from your Ashampoo account (LINK).
Click "Next" to proceed (1).
7. Ready to reset this PC
Finally, you'll see a summary of your settings. Click "Reset" (1) to begin restoring your PC to its default settings removing all non-Windows Store applications in the process.
Once the process is complete, parts of Windows will be automatically reinstalled including the latest Windows Updates. This process may take a while so please be patient.
