Installing Language Packs
Translation via English:
For many translations, the program works in two steps. If you want to translate texts from German to Spanish and vice versa, the following process is used:- German → English: Install the "DE → EN" package.
- English → Spanish: Install the "EN → ES" package.
- Spanish → English: Install the "ES → EN" package.
- English → German: Install the "EN → DE" package.
Direct Translation:
Some languages can be translated directly. In this case, you only need two language packs for both directions (for example, Spanish → Portuguese & Portuguese → Spanish).Initial Setup
When starting the application for the first time, you must install at least two languages to complete the setup. Select the desired languages and click "Download Selection & Continue" to begin the installation.
Use the search field to find specific languages or sort the list alphabetically using the sorting symbol.
Once the installation is successful, the initial setup is complete, and you can start using the application.
Homepage / Translation Page
Here, you can quickly and easily translate text or files.
Text Translations
- Enter the text you want to translate into the left field and select the source language.
- Alternatively, paste the text from your clipboard using Right Click → Paste.
- Select the target language in the right field.
- Start the translation by clicking "Translate" or using the shortcut `CTRL + Enter`.
Note: Selecting "Auto" does not guarantee an accurate detection of the source language. If there is too little text or the correct language packs are missing, detection may fail.
File Translations
- Select the target language and optionally the source language.
- Click "Translate File" and choose a file.
- Confirm the translation dialog if the language settings are correct.
- Once completed, you can download the translated file via "Download File", which will open in your default browser.
Supported file formats: .txt, .odp, .odt, .docx, .pptx, .epub, .html
Your file never leaves your PC. The download occurs via the browser only because this is a browser-based application.
Manage Languages
An active internet connection is required to install and update languages.
Click on the download icon to access the language management page. Here, you can view installed and available languages:
- Search & Filter: Use the search field to filter the list.
- Install new languages: Click the download icon next to a language.
- Multi-selection: Select multiple languages at once to install or remove them.
- Updates: If updates are available for installed languages, a blue update icon will appear. Click "Update All" to install the latest language packs.
Warning: If you remove languages and fewer than two remain, the app will reset, deleting all remaining languages. You will then be redirected to the initial setup.
Change Application Language
Click on the burger menu in the top bar to change the application language. There, you will also find a link to the help page and additional information about the program.
